Many people here have criticized US & foreign carmakers for not providing enough choice in diesel power, especially in small cars like those available in Europe. Is there any sign from Detroit that this is changing for the better?

see if you can track down the lightest new car on display - regardless of class, and maybe compare it to a the lightest new vehicle from 10 years ago. Also, look at the list of now standard options (what the auto maker deems we 'need') on both models. This comes from my wish to have a light weight stripper of a car to bomb around in - power windows be damned!

@Aircooled - I'm willing to bet if you're looking for lightest new production car it's probably the BRZ/FT86. I can't wait to take one for a spin, might actually replace the Miata... Doubtful though.

Hi Peter, I am interested in a fuel efficient wagon/hatchback that will be reliable and fun to drive. Perhaps the next generation Hyundai Elantra Touring, Acura TSX wagon (not in Canada...yet!) and/or a diesel/hybrid powered alternative. Cheers!

Peter, lets ask Acura and Lexus why they are not keeping up with other import brands and bringing some additional stylish and high peformance vehicles to market. Acura RL, boring .... TL needs more horsepower , why not an S ? Lexus ,,,, otside of new GS 300 ...starting to look like Buick .....

Peter: Please let us know what you think of the new Honda Accord... do you like the way Honda is headed with this? Honda really needs to show some kind of direction... they seem really lost at the moment.

@metalgod - I agree that Honda seems a little lost... their engineers are fantastic, manufacturing is good, but product planning needs work. Will scope their offerings for you
